Celebrities approaching divorce issues differently

Sunday, October 22, 2017

Celebrity news is inescapable in the era of social media, most especially when a divorce is on the table. Texas pop culture aficionados are already aware that celebrity power couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are in the process of ending their marriage, but they may not be aware of how the couple is choosing to approach their divorce issues. Mediation is just one form of divorce of which not everyone is immediately aware.

Divorce mediation differs from traditional divorce because the couple seeks to resolve their issues outside of court. Of course, this does not preclude the involvement of legal representation, and both individuals are still responsible for securing their own divorce attorneys. However, the attorneys are assisted in the process by a mediator who facilitates both parties in reaching a satisfying settlement.

Granted, this might sound like a risky proposition to some individuals preparing for divorce, and of course, the solution is not right for everyone. Affleck and Garner have certainly raised eyebrows with their decision, considering the vast fortune the couple have amassed as Hollywood royalty. However, the decision on the part of this power couple to eschew traditional divorce procedures could cause ripples in the American consciousness concerning its understanding of divorce options.

Obviously, the typical Texas resident's divorce issues will not likely involve millions of dollars' worth of assets. However, the lesson that can be taken away is that there is no one right way to get divorced. Both individuals might benefit from consulting their respective attorneys about their divorce alternatives before choosing what will work best for them.
