Military divorce by age 30 is high among highest divorce rates

Marriage and high levels of stress do not complement each other. This was underscored by a recent study that looked at the divorce rates in certain professions and careers nationwide, including in Texas. It seems that high-stress levels and income are the primary factors that link careers and divorces. The study looked at the divorce rates of people at the age of 30 and found that military divorce is so prevalent that it made up three of the top 10 categories on the list.

When the researchers analyzed data provided by the U.S. Census Bureau, the divorce rate of first-line enlisted military supervisors was the highest. Slightly lower on the list came enlisted tactical operations and air weapons. The high levels of stress were caused by the tasks of coordinating the activities and leading operations of enlisted service members.

Another study that was published in 2016 found that each month a deployed spouse is away significantly increased the chances of divorce. The divorce rate in deployed members of the Air Force proved to be the highest, followed by the Navy, the Marines and then the Army. This information was provided by the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Branch. Other data indicated that military members who were not deployed cited frequent relocation and marrying too young for their divorces.

The researchers say they found that time spent away from each other, persistent danger and -- in many cases -- post-traumatic stress disorder and depression led to most military divorces. Insufficient pay was also a source of unhappiness in many marriages. Divorce in the military can be complicated, especially if there are children involved. Enlisted military members in Texas may find that the support and guidance of an experienced military divorce attorney can be a significant asset.
